UC Berkeley embARC High School Design Academy Build HomeAid Project Accessory Items

HomeAid is grateful for the opportunity to work with high school students from UC Berkeley’s embARC program on fun accessory items for our Hope Village Micro-Home Project located in Walnut Creek.

True to UC Berkeley’s public mission, their embARC High School summer program embraces civic responsibility by partnering with a local community organization each summer to design a community improvement project. This year students built planter boxes, nesting and insect boxes, and project signage for our newest build in Walnut Creek, processed with Firm Foundation Community Housing, and constructed by Pulte Group, for local care provider Hope Solutions.

Student participants learn skills in the architectural design studios, digital and fabrication workshops, and lectures to make an impact on community projects. The program is an intensive, four-week design program for high school students who are interested in architecture, urban design, and planning.  To learn more about embARC’s summer program or how to apply for the Summer 2025 embARC student experience, please click here for more information.
