Please call Gavin Newsome to Secure Critical Funding for Crime Victim Services

Governor Newsom will release an updated budget proposal, called the May Revise.  Currently California’s crime victim services are scheduled to receive $87 million in funding for FY24, which equates to a 43% reduction from last year’s allocation.  To learn more about the programs and services at risk of being cut please click here.

HomeAid needs to you call Governor Newsom's Office Directly at (916) 445-2841, and leave a message to include additional funding for VOCA in the May Revise (call prior to May 10, 2024):

Sample statement: “My name is ______ with ___(organization, if applicable)_______.  I’m calling to urge Governor Newsom to include up to $200 million in the May Revise to prevent drastic cuts to crime victim services. Due to federal funding cuts, survivors’ access to lifesaving shelter, hotline, counseling, and other essential services is at risk if the Governor does not allocate funding. I implore the Governor to prioritize the needs of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and child abuse survivors and include this vitally needed funding in the May Revise."

Please share this call to action with your networks, including your board, organization supporters, colleagues, and friends, and encourage everyone to join you in taking action. For more information, please contact Crisand Giles.  Thank you!
